INSEP’s Yvan Mainini national basketball squad, which has trained some of the biggest names in French basketball (including Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Céline Dumerc and Sandrine Gruda) is the main selection pool for the men’s, women’s and junior French national teams. It accommodates 50 permanent athletes – 25 girls and 25 boys aged between 15 and 18 years old – who train daily and take part in competitions at the weekend as a sports collective in the French national championships.

Measuring 201cm tall, 16-year old Ousmane Dieng, who plays point guard, ended 2019 in second place with France at the U16 Euro tournament. With the talented 2003-2004 generation, he is expected to compete at the U17 World Cup in 2020.

Serena KESSLER

Scoring 11 points, making 10 rebounds and 6 passes during the third place play-off at the European Junior Championships in 2019, INSEP resident Serena Kessler (16 years old, shooting guard), who was selected a year ahead of her age group, was one of the key players in helping France’s U18 women’s national team win the bronze medal.
