INSEP works with France’s elite athletes in the three Olympic styles – women’s wrestling, freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling. Established in 1977, the national wrestling squad is now recognised by the United World Wrestling (UWW) federation as an international teaching and training centre for international athletes.

After having won everything there is to win in the junior categories (world and European champion at junior and U23 level), Koumba Laroque (aged 21) lived up to her reputation as a rising start in French wrestling by winning silver at the senior world and European championships in 2018 in the 68 kg weight class.
