Badminton

An Olympic sport since the Barcelona Games in 1992, badminton was integrated into the INSEP programme in 1990. The national badminton squad brings together the best junior players to prepare top-level competitions, such as the individual and team events at the world championships, European championships and Olympic Games.

Bronze medal winner in the mixed doubles at the 2019 European Games alongside Delphine Delrue and two-time European junior champion (boys doubles and team doubles), Thom Gicquel (20 years old) is a pure product of the Greater INSEP network. Having grown up in Tours in the west of France, he trained in the youth squad of the Brittany sport campus and the national junior squad at the Bordeaux-Aquitaine Sports Resources, Expertise and Performance Centre before he joined the national squad at INSEP at the age of 17.
